THE ROSE GARDENS AT ROBINS FIELD
The Robins Field/Elizabeth Ford Initiative planted its first rose garden in 2019. Since that time, 3 additional rose gardens have been planted. Each rose garden honors those who have played significant roles in the history of Robins Field. And, each each garden offers the opportunity to honor and memorialize through contributions to the Initiative which purchases, plants and labels them.
Rose Garden Locations
1.) The Roosevelt Rose Garden
Commemorating President Franklin Roosevelt’s historic speach at Robins Field on November 18, 1934 that heralded the coming of electricity to north Mississippi through the Tennessee Valley Auhority and declared Tupelo the first TVA city.
2.) The Nettie Davis Rose Garden
Honoring the life, dedication and community leadership of Nettie Davis. She has served Tupelo as an educator, and in city government throughout her life. Her love of gardening has ehnahnced her neighborhood and our community.
3.) The Rob Barnes Rose Garden
A memoridal to the long time coach, athletic trainer and musician that trained bodies and touched hearts.
4.) The Ken Kirk Rose Garden
Honors the life and athletic accomplishments of the first Tupelo High School athlete to play in the National Football League.
